KERRVILLE Barbara F. McKenzie, 81, of Kerrville, passed from this life at her home on Monday morning, Dece,ber 21, 2009.

Born in Galveston, TX on December 20, 1928, she was the daughter of John and Alice Colby Fox. She had been a resident of Kerrville for the past 4 years, coming here from Odessa, TX. Prior to that she lived in Riudoso, NM and had lived in Ft. Stockton, TX from 19591990.

Mrs. McKenzie attended the University of TX and was a member of the Phi Mu Society.

On November 27, 1947, she married Lawrence B. McKenzie in Austin, TX. A member of the DAR and the DTR, she was also active in the TX Sheep and Goat Raisers Association.

Mrs. McKenzie was an active member of the Episcopalian Churches, wherever she lived.

She was predeceased by her parents, and a brother, John Fox Jr.

Those left to cherish and honor her memory are her husband, Lawrence B. McKenzie, SR, of Kerrville a son, Lawrence B. McKenzie, JR, and his wife, Janice, of Ft. Stockton, TX two daughters, Bonnie Word and her husband, Jim, of Keller, TX and Mary Alice McKenzie Wood of Kerrville 10 grandchildren 5 great grandchildren a sister, Kitty Haire of Livingston, TX and many nieces and nephews.

There is no visitation.

A Celebration of her life will be held at a later date at St. Stephens Church in Ft. Stockton.

The family suggests that memorial donations in Mrs. McKenzies name, be made to VistaCare Hospice of Kerrville or to the TX Home Health Care.
