KERRVILLE Azalie R. Dole, age 100, of the Methodist Country House, Wilmington, Delaware and formerly of Ingram, Texas, passed from this life on Wednesday, March 23, 2011.
Born in Fort Worth, TX, Azalie was the daughter of the late Jay V. and Anna Viola Russell. She attended Texas Christian University. During World War II, she was employed by the Austin Company. She and her husband of 50 years, Frank V. Dole, lived in Houston, Texas before moving to their beloved Ingram, Texas. While in Ingram she was a member of the Hunt United Methodist Church, Church Women United, Hill Country Youth Ranch, serving as President of the Auxiliary, Riverhill Country Club, Riverhill Garden Club, and the Kerrville Performing Arts Association.
Following the death of her husband in 2000, she moved to Wilmington, Delaware the following year. She attended Christiana United Methodist Church. She continued her passion of volunteering through mentoring students at the Centerville School and the Tatnall School. She was a special lady and an inspiration to all who knew and loved her. She appreciated the gift of Life.
Mrs. Dole was predeceased by her husband, Frank V. Dole, her son William Dole, a Viet Nam veteran, 2 brothers, Neville and Gordon Russell, 2 sisters Sybil McVay and Dawn Chick. She is survived by 2 brothers, James S. Russell, Sr. of Delaware and Jay V. Russell of Washington, 1 sister, Edna Evans of Georgia, a host of nephews and nieces and by a nephew and his wife, James S. and Linda Russell who cared for her.
Graveside Services for all friends and acquaintances to attend will be held at 10 AM on April 9, 2011 at Garden of Memories Cemetery, Kerrville, Texas with Rev. Ed Silliman officiating.
Memorials can be made in Mrs. Doles memory to the Hill Country Youth Ranch or the charity of ones choice.
