Arthur Beatty

Kerrville Arthur L. Beatty, 90, of Kerrville, passed from this life at his home on Sunday, May 22, 2011.

Born in Cogan, OK on January 11, 1921, he was the son of Art and Hazel Miller Beatty.

Art could build anything and repair everything. He was unfailingly reliable. If he said he would be there, he was. If he said he would do it, he did. He prospered through unflagging hard workthrough 89 frac12 years of his 90 years. He provided well for his family.

Art did not believe in complaining or dwelling on what could have been. Although he may at times have wished events had worked out differently, he persevered and faced things as they were. He served in the US Army Air Corps during WWII in Burma, India and China, but never spoke much about the war. He did return from the Pacific as an excellent table tennis player, a sport he enjoyed into his 80s. He was a thirty year employee of the US Postal Service who did not think much of how it was run. His views and opinions were unambiguous. Like it or not, you always knew where he stood.

He was not very sentimental, but he loved dogs, wildlife, and the birds he fed faithfully every day. Though he was a man who performed a lifetime of manual labor, he created stained glass windows for his home and mosaics for his garden. He loved to bring one last big surprise in from the garage every Christmas.

To be lazy was an unforgivable character flaw, and he instilled that work ethic in his children. He followed the rules. He never cut corners. He managed his life. He helped others. He was always there for his family. He loved simple food, well prepared. He was ruthless at cards.

Those left to honor and cherish his memory are his wife of 67 years, A. Elaine Wright Beatty his son, Daryl Beatty and his wife, Penny, and their children, Carol Beatty and Scott Beatty his daughter, Denice E. Beatty Bruce and her children, Riley Bruce and Kellin Bruce.
The family has asked that friends stop by the home to celebrate his life as you see fit.

Donations in his name may be made to Peterson Hospice or the charity of ones choice.
