Anna Shelton

College Station Anna Roberta Shelton, 79, of College Station, Texas passed from this life to spend an eternity with her Lord and Savior on Monday, November 7, 2005 at St. Josephs Regional Medical Center in Bryan College Station, Texas due to a sudden illness. Mrs. Shelton was born on August 8, 1926 in Pursley, Texas to the late Elsbert and Jimmie Bolen Henson.Mrs. Shelton spent most of her younger life growing up in the Texas, Oklahoma, and Arkansas area. She married the love of her life, Dumas F. Shelton on December 4, 1945 with whom she spent almost 60 years of wonderful marriage. She was a homemaker and mom, raising their son and supporting her husband as he was engaged in the farming industry. In the early 1970s, they moved to Plains, Texas where she spent several years working for the Yoakum County Public Library as a Librarian. In 1987, they moved to the Houston, Texas area to be near their son, and for the past 5 years, they settled and retired in College Station, Texas. Mrs. Shelton was an active member of Rock Prairie Baptist Church.Mrs. Shelton is preceded in death by her parents one brother, Cecil Henson four sisters, Cleda Trittipo, Mary Tidwell, Juanita Mordhorst, and Hazel McNelly an infant son, Kenneth Ray Shelton and her grandson, J.T. Shelton.She is survived by her loving husband, who will miss her dearly, Dumas F. Shelton of College Station, TX her son, John W. and wife Judy Shelton of Bryan, TX granddaughter, Jenna Leigh Shelton of Midland, TX grandson, Chris Russell of Fort Hood, TX sister, Jimmie Lou Morgan of Harrah, OK very special nieces who she considered sisters, Joyce Bone of Pearidge, AR, Sandra Chipman of Harrah, OK numerous other extended family members, church family, along with a host of many friends and neighbors whom she loved dearly.A family visitation will be held from 5 7 PM, Thursday, November 10, 2005 at Memorial Funeral Chapel, 2901 Texas Avenue South, College Station, Texas 77845. Funeral Services for Mrs. Shelton will be held at 2 PM, Friday, November 11, 2005 at the Rock Prairie Baptist Church, 2405 Rock Prairie Road, College Station, Texas 77845, with the Rev. Johnny Sloan, Pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in the College Station City Cemetery.Pallbearers will be Deacons of Rock Prairie Baptist Church Gerry Broadhead, Ralph Griswold, Charles Hale, Chris Hurley, George McDonald, Willis Ritchey, Jim Snider, and Ron Weatherford.In lieu of floral arrangements, the family suggests memorials in Mrs. Sheltons memory be made to the Rock Prairie Baptist Church, co Building Fund, 2405 Rock Prairie Road, College Station, Texas 77845.Arrangements are under the direction and personal care of Kerrville Funeral Home.
