Kerrville Anna Elizabeth Hoffmann Reeves, 93, a resident of a local health care facility, went to be with the Lord on Monday, November 26, 2007.nbspnbspnbspnbspnbspShe was born on July 16, 1914 to Gustov Adolph Hoffmann and Martha Charlotte Aherns, both pioneers of Gillespie County stock, in Brownwood, TX. She was the granddaughter of August Hoffmann, the last survivor of the Nueces encounter during the Civil War. Elizabeth was a graduate of Brownwood High School, and the Daniel Baker College and was a first grade teacher in Fredericksburg and Ballinger for four years.She had always wanted to become a nurse and entered nurses training at the University of Texas Medical Branch, Galveston. Her nursing education was interrupted during WW II, when she contracted tuberculosis and was hospitalized twice before being able to complete her training to become an RN. Her nursing career included employment at Memorial Hospital in Brownwood and the Veterans Hospital in Temple and Kerrville. In Kerrville she was Supervisor of Nursing Home Care Unit for eleven years until her retirement in 1979. These were the most rewarding and enjoyable years of her nursing career.In 1955, she married Cecil B. Reeves. The marriage ended in divorce in 1978.Following her retirement, she became active in the Lioness Club and worked year long in preparing hand crafted items for their annual bazaar. She was also a member of the Goat Creek Extension Homemakers Club. Elizabeth had a good sense of humor and loved a good joke.nbspnbspnbspnbspnbsp Elizabeth was a lifelong Presbyterian and recalled coming to Kerrville as a teenager to attend the Westminster encampment summer programs. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Kerrville.She was predeceased by her parents, three brothers, Albert William Hoffmann, August Hoffmann and Victor Hoffmann.
