Anna Mae Cowan, 89, lifelong resident of Kerrville, Texas passed away peacefully on May 17, 2005.Mrs. Cowan was born October 13, 1915 to Elmer and Helena Ruff in Kerrville. She married M.W. Cowan in Kerrville in 1957. She worked for the Kerrville Telephone Company as Chief Telephone Operator for 47 years retiring in 1982. She was an active member of Notre Dame Catholic Church where she was known as the gum lady because she loved to hand out gum to the children who behaved well in services. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Hollis McDonald in 1945, her parents, and grandson, Christopher Cowan.She is survived by her husband, M.W. Cowan of Kerrville son, David Cowan of Gettysburg, PA daughter, Janice Kennemer of Comfort sister, Helen Guthrie of Kerrville granddaughter, Michele Smith of Sugarland, two grandsons, Greg Furman of Dallas and Patrick Cowan of Miami, FL and two great grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial will be 1:30PM, Friday, May 20, 2005 at the Notre Dame Catholic Church with Father Mike Boulette officiating. Interment will follow in Glen Rest Cemetery. A Rosary will be held 6:00PM, Thursday, May 19, 2005 at the Kerrville Funeral Home with Deacon Charles Domigues officiating. Memorials may be made to the charity of ones choice.
