Kerrville Marie Roquemore, a resident of Kerrville, TX, joined her Lord on January 17, 2004. Marie was the oldest of six children born to Limuel and Alice Moore Van Hoosier in Garner, Parker County, TX on November 14, 1904. She attended Weatherford Junior College and later rode horse back to teach a class of first to six graders in a one room country school. She married Dalner F. Roquemore and they had one son, Larry Roquemore. They were long time members of the Arlington Heights Methodist Church, and Marie was a member of the Builders Sunday school class.During World War II, she worked with her husband at their caf, the Liberty Caf, in Mineral Wells. In 1948 they moved to Fort Worth and owned and operated the downtown Stardust Caf until her husbands death. Marie later began a long sales career, first at the Fair Department Store, and then followed by thirty years at Neiman Marcus where she won the Golden Stallion award for sales. She belonged to the Fort Worth Womens Club and the Zeta Tau Sorority. She retired in 1985.Marie and second husband, Earnest Oxley enjoyed dancing and traveling until his death. They were members of the Tanglefoot Dance Club and Elks Lodge 124 in Fort Worth.Marie was also preceded in death by her two brothers, Preston and Gerald Van Hoosier and sisters, Marzelle Franz and Margie Rochelle Wells.Survivors include son, Larry Roquemore and wife, Bettye of Kerrville, TX granddaughter, Laurie Roquemore Austin and husband Michael Austin and greatgrandson, Mark Andrew Austin, all of Austin, TX sister, Irval Danilow of Fort Worth, TX stepson, Tom Oxley and wife, Chris, and stepgranddaughter, Brianna all of Fort Worth, TX numerous nieces and nephews, and a host of many loving friends and neighbors.Services will be conducted by Reverend Melissa Nichols on Wednesday, January 21, 2004, 1:30 PM at Greenwood Chapel, University and White Settlement Road, Fort Worth, TX. Serving as Pallbearers will be Bill Van Hoosier, Bill Franz, Tom Oxley, Michael Austin, Bret Van Hoosier, and Anthony Aldridge.Arrangements are under the direction and personal care of Kerrville Funeral Home.
