Andrew Lee Tate, age 85, of Kerrville died Monday, April 22, 2003 at a local hospital. He was born on May 30, 1917 in Wynnewood, OK to Porter Tate and Jessie Mae Bennett Tate.Andrew served in the Army over 20 years. He proudly served in WWII Korea Kobe, Japan were he received the Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster medal for service as Port Intelligence Officer. He served his country in many other conflicts as well. Andrew went on to serve as Commandant of the St. Johns Military Academy in California and as Major in their athletic department. He also served at the Southern California Military Academy. After retirement from the Army, Andrew continued to remain as active as possible by serving in many positions of the 81st Infantry Wildcat Division of the WWI and WWI Ceremonies. He also held many positions with the VFW. Andrew retired to Kerrville with his wife and was a member of St. Pauls United Methodist Church.Andrew is survived by his wife of 38 years Marjorie of Kerrville children Reva and Husband Vernon Robinson of Madill, OK, Rhenda and husband Tony Bailey of Pensacola, FL, Zell and wife Evelyn Tate of New Zealand stepchildren Irene and husband Roland Patton of Senora, CA, Pete Fitz Maurice of Canoga Park, CA, Sandee and husband Cliff Pelchat of Edmond, OK 16 grandchildren and 8 greatgrandchildren, brothers J.B. and wife Jewel Corvin of Ada, OK, Gerald and wife Kathryn Cox of Rockport, TX sisters Luevenie Westmoreland of Sacramento, CA, Wanda Cannon of Sierra Vista, AZ, and Dixie Baker of Oregon.
