nbspnbspnbspnbsp Alyece Rogene Biggans Urice, 85, passed away at her home after a long illness on August 1st, 2008 atnbsp3: 03 PM. Heaven is receiving a very good woman and a fine lady with Rogenersquos appearance there.nbsp Her family and friends were exceptionally important to her as she was to them and she will be deeply missed by all that knew her.nbspnbspnbsp Rogene was the first born child to John Joseph Biggans and Bessie Myrtle Frazier Biggans in Canon City, CO on December 29, 1922.nbspnbspnbsp She spent most of her early life in Elk City, OK where she graduated from high school in the Class of 1941 with high scholastic standing. She belonged to the Honor Society in addition to receiving numerous other awards that included being selected as Football Queen during her senior year. Afterwards she briefly attended Oklahoma AampM now OklahomaStateUniversity. She was a skilled musician at the piano and organ, played the bass clarinet in the school band and was selected to be in the TriState Band which performed at Enid, OK. She also developed skills with oil paintings. She belonged to the Eastern Star and Beta Sigma Phi sorority in ElkCity.nbspnbspnbspShe married Joe R. Urice on January 26, 1947 at Elk City in the First Christian Church officiated by Rev. Oren Coble. nbspHer parents and her only sibling, John Eldon Biggans, predeceased her as did a favorite aunt, Pearl Frazier Belknap, and a nephew, Mike Biggans. Survivors from her family are her husband, Joe Urice her three children, Joe Scott Urice and his wife Sandra of Laredo, TX nbspRoy Kirk Urice of Granbury, TX Mary Kathleen Urice of Kerrville, TX nbspgranddaughter, Alyece Dawn Urice of Laredo, TX and nephew, Frazier Kent Biggans of Oklahoma City, OK.nbspnbspnbsp Rogene was a loving and devoted wife and mother. She gave her children the great gift of being a stayathome mother while teaching them love and respect of family, friends and God. She was always present to offer them time and emotional support when needed. She was extremely proud of her Irish heritage, was a skilled golfer, was an avid crossword puzzle devotee, loved to play duplicate bridge and was pleased to be a member of the Red Hat organization. A social group she enjoyed was the Daughters of the Nile associated with the Abdallah Masonic Shrine of Overland Park, KS and she was a former member of the Kerrville Country Club. She was a life long supporter of the Republican Party and told the story of being one of only eight registered Republican voters in the county while living in Denver City, TX.nbspnbspnbsp She was extremely adept at adjusting to the numerous places she lived after marriage which included Midland, Houston, Ft Worth, Denver, CO and Overland Park, KS. She had made her home in Kerrville, TX since 1990. She belonged to the First United Methodist Church of Kerrville and was faithful at attending services and Bible study until she became seriously ill. nbspnbspnbsp Rogene will be long remembered and will be sorely missed by all who knew her.
