Allen Blackard

Kerrville, TX Allen Cookie Blackard, 64, passed away on Wednesday afternoon, September 5, 2007 after a battle with cancer. Born in Los Angeles, CA on December 11, 1942, he was the son of the late Albert A. and Katherine Lea Blackard. nbspnbspnbspnbspnbsp In life, he was optimistic, generous and loving. He took many lost souls in under his wings that others would not help and he changed their lives. He will be missed by many. A special thanks to Dr. Fitzgerald and the Sid Peterson Hospice staff and to many others who know who you are.nbspnbspnbspnbspnbspFamily members include two daughters, Theresa Blackard and Katie Blackard, both of Kerrville two sons, David Blackard of Kentucky and Justin Blackard of Colorado four grandchildren, Megan, Dale, Jacob and Aaliah one sister, Catherine Blackard of Lockhart, TX a sisterinlaw, Marjorie Blackard of Rockport, TX and several nieces and nephews.A Memorial Service will be held at the Kerrville Funeral Home on Saturday, November 3, 2007 at 11:00 AM. A celebration and tree planting will be held at a later date at the Kerrville Folk Festival Quite Valley Ranch in Kerrville, where Cookie volunteered many years.
