Alice McGuire

Alice Martha Pohl Hissom McGuire passed away at the age of 100. She was born October 26,1921 in the family home in rural Meade, Kansas to Edward H. and Mathilda A. Cordes Pohl.

She married Charles W. Hissom, March 14,1944 and with him moved to various places as he was an overseer in the oil fields.
In 1963, they ended up with the century old farm in Meade, Kansas, the very farm where Alice was born. Charles and Alice have one son, Edward C. Hissom, he married Patricia Mabery. They had two sons, Kellen E. and Kyle J., who both died from muscular dystrophy.

Charles passed away in 1983. Alice then met and married an old friend, Kenneth E. McGuire and they moved to Kerrville, Texas. He passed away in 2003.

Alice traveled much and enjoyed life and her Lord.

She is survived by one son, Edward and wife, Pat; two stepdaughters, Kay McGee and husband, Randy and Kennye Semones and husband, Jack; four step grandchildren and eight step great grandchildren; a sister, Connie Jones and several nieces, nephews and friends.

At her request, no services will be held in Kerrville. A private service and interment will be arranged at a later date at the family burial plot in Meade, Kansas.

Those who desire may make memorial donations may do so to Riverside Church of Christ in Kerrville or the charity of donor’s choice.
