Kerrville Agnes C. McLendon, 96, of Kerrville, passed from this life at a local Kerrville hospital on Monday, January 30, 2012.
Born in Comfrey, MN on August 28, 1915, she was the daughter of Albert J. and Mary Zwaschka Rathman. She had been a resident of Kerrville since 1965.
Agnes grew up in Minnesota but had spent her adult life in TX.
On August 11, 1965, she married Joseph A. McLendon.
Agnes was a devout Christian and was a communicant of Notre Dame Catholic Church. She spent many days volunteering at St. Vincent de Paul, where, at 96, she would give 2 days a week helping in the shop.
She would also volunteer at any animal shelter that she found, caring for the animals and making sure they went to good homes.
A fun person, Agnes would also help with pot luck dinners wherever she volunteered. Everyone looked forward to her chicken and dumplins.
She will always be remembered and loved.
Agnes is predeceased by her beloved husband, Joseph, her parents, 3 brothers, Leonard, Norbert and Jerome, and by a sister, Veronica Hillesheim.
Those left to honor and cherish her memory are her sister, Eleanor Fischer of Sleepy Eye, MN nieces and nephews and many cherished friends.
A memorial mass will be held at Notre Dame Catholic Church, Kerrville, on February 15, 2012 at 9:30AM.
The family suggests that donations in her name be made to St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store or to an animal shelter.
