We knew Jack as a nurse but, over time, came to love him like a son. He cared for my late husband both in a local care facility and later as a private nurse in our home. The care he delivered in both settings was both highly skilled and deeply compassionate.
He and my husband bonded over their shared love (and in Jack's case, encyclopedic knowledge) of military history. Jack kept my husband's brain active and spirits high with frequent trivia questions about the people, places, equipment, and events of WWII. In turn, my husband challenged Jack's vast knowledge base, though only rarely was there a question Jack couldn't answer.
The world has lost a wonderful man, a good man, one who will always be remembered by many with gratitude and affection. We loved you, Jack -- and always will.
